Course Overview

This course will teach the students how to draw and illustrate with effective and functional composition in mind. Learn how to follow composition rules in placing characters and making backgrounds. They will also learn how to layout content such as text and images for their graphic art works.

In this course, we will begin with the fundamental concepts that can be applied to background, layout or even photography. Then we will study staging, different camera shots as well as applying layout designs with texts.

We will have activities such as creating a background design and designing a magazine cover which will use our skills and apply the knowledge learned for each week.

What You Will Learn

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • recognize composition rules by drawing and illustrating
  • create various artwork that requires composition
